But let me start with <strong>Recuva Portable</strong>, so you see, why I am ussing the versions from <a href="http://PortableApps.com" rel="nofollow ugc">PortableApps.com</a>.</p>
<hr />
<p dir="auto">For <strong>Recuva Portable</strong> there is no official new release available:<br />
<a href="https://vulndetect.org/topic/2618/recuva-portable-recommended-version-not-available">https://vulndetect.org/topic/2618/recuva-portable-recommended-version-not-available</a></p>
<p dir="auto">In the Piriform forums a moderator wrote me, that <strong>Speccy</strong> and also <strong>Recuva</strong> are available at <a href="http://PortableApps.com" rel="nofollow ugc">PortableApps.com</a>:</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/specportable" rel="nofollow ugc">https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/specportable</a></li>
<li><a href="https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/rcvportable" rel="nofollow ugc">https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/rcvportable</a></li>
</ul>
<p dir="auto">Therefore, I downloaded these versions for <a href="http://PortableApps.com" rel="nofollow ugc">PortableApps.com</a>.</p>
<p dir="auto"><strong>Recuva Portable</strong> from <strong><a href="http://PortableApps.com" rel="nofollow ugc">PortableApps.com</a></strong> is <strong>detected</strong> by VulnDetect.<br />
But <strong>Speccy Portable</strong> from <strong><a href="http://PortableApps.com" rel="nofollow ugc">PortableApps.com</a></strong> is <strong>NOT detected</strong> by VulnDetect.</p>

These builds from <a href="http://PortableApps.com" rel="nofollow ugc">PortableApps.com</a> are <strong>3rd party repacks</strong> and <strong>not official from Piriform</strong>.<br />
Therefore I suggest, that you <strong>DO NOT ADD IT</strong> in VulnDetect.<br />
<strong>Add only</strong> the <strong>official releases</strong>.</p>
<p dir="auto">If you agree, I would close this issue with the status "<strong>[Declined]</strong>".</p>

<p dir="auto">However, Speccy has a completely different filename, different properties and even a different version number, so tracking that is not trivial.</p>
<p dir="auto">In general, any detection of portable apps isn't intentional, it is a coincidence, because the portable app, like Recuva, happens to have the same properties.</p>
<p dir="auto">I can only encourage anyone who repackages apps as portable to do it the same way as the Recuva portable, it will ease the burden for all users of the portable app, and for us, to keep track of it.</p>
