  • RE: GeForce Now - App-Request

Today I installed an update for GeForce Now.
The new version of the app is: 2.0.6.83.

But now the version number is stored in the EXE file:

File name and path: C:\Users\olive\AppData\Local\NVIDIA Corporation\GeForceNOW\CEF\GeForceNOW.exe
    Product Name: NVIDIA GeForce NOW
    Internal Name: GeForceNOW
    Original Filename: GeForceNOW.exe

    File Description: NVIDIA GeForce NOW
    Company: NVIDIA Corporation

Today Microsoft Edge Dev auto-updated to version 75.0.131.0.
    Here is the change-log: https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-us/welcome/update?channel=dev&version=75.0.131.0

  • Bundling - WSCC + Sysinternals + Nirsoft

I have WSCC installed (it is not yet detected but it is already requested 4 months ago).
In WSCC I have downloaded the complete NirSoft Utilities and also the complete Sysinternals Suite.

VulnDetect already detects some of these tools:

    • NirSoft BlueScreenView
    • NirSoft IconsExtract
    • NirSoft SearchMyFiles
    • NirSoft WhatIsHang
    • Sysinternals Autoruns (32-Bit)
    • Sysinternals Autoruns (64-Bit)
    • Sysinternals Autoruns (CLI) (32-Bit)
    • Sysinternals Autoruns (CLI) (64-Bit)

WSCC is locaated in the folder D:\PortableApps\PortableApps\_WSCCPortable
The NirSoft Utilities are in the folder D:\PortableApps\PortableApps\_WSCCPortable\NirSoft Utilities
The Sysinternals Suite is in the folder D:\PortableApps\PortableApps\_WSCCPortable\Sysinternals Suite

So I suggest that you show the following entries in the list of applications:

    • WSCC

    • NirSoft Utilities
Here all NirSoft tools are bundles but without the text "NirSoft " in the name (so you have "BlueScreenView" instead of "NirSoft BlueScreenView")

    • Sysinternals Suite
Here you show all tools of the Sysinternals Suite (also remove the text "Sysinternals" from the name of the tool).
Here you have for example the 4 instances of Autoruns listed (see above).

For the entries "NirSoft Utilities" and "Sysinternals Suite" there would be no version number available (this is OK because this is a bundle and not a physical app).
But you would have a status available (if one of the bundled apps is insecure, the parent entry also is insecure).

  • RE: Grouping multiple (vulnerable) programs

@OLLI_S said in Grouping multiple (vulnerable) programs:

how you will display this, when there is an update for the Launcher available but not for the game itself?
So an update for the bundled app and not for the parent applications.

Today I updated some apps, also the following:

    • I had an update for the Elite Dangerous Launcher but not for Elite Dangerous (the game)
    • I had an update for Star Citizen (the game) but not for the RSI Launcher

So you should show the user updates for bundles.

  • RE: Unique display of Beta information

    @Tom I have a solution!

In the list of apps I have for example:

    • SUMo (Beta)
    • Vortex (Beta)

If you now add the 32-Bit and 64-Bit classification in brackets behind the product name then you would get:

    • SUMo (Beta) (32-Bit)
    • Vortex (Beta) (64-Bit)

    This is looking strange!

If you remove the brackets at "Beta" then you would get:

    • SUMo Beta (32-Bit)
    • Vortex Beta (64-Bit)

This is not a good solution, because now it seems like the text "Beta" belongs to the application name.

    Solution
So I suggest that you display the Alpha and Beta information in the version number.
    So you would have:

    • Application SUMo (32-Bit) version number Beta 5.9.0.418
    • Application Vortex (64-Bit) version number Beta 0.17.7

This is in my eyes the best solution!

  • RE: Grouping multiple (vulnerable) programs

@Tom I wrote in Grouping multiple (vulnerable) programs:

But the Launchers can be updated separately from the game.
So there can be new versions of the game available but also new versions of the launcher.
And I can update the launcher but not update the game.

Do you have any idea how you will display this, when there is an update for the Launcher available but not for the game itself?
So an update for the bundled app and not for the parent applications.

  • InfraRecorder (Portable) - Missing Icon

InfraRecorder is detected correctly on my system, but no app-icon is shown.
So here is the app-icon in ICO format:
