[Solved] FreeCommander XE Donor - Alter Version Number
-
FreeCommander XE Dono is detected correctly on my system, but the displayed version number should be altered:
- in the application the displayed version number is 2022.0.0.872.
- in VulnDetect the displayed version number is 2022.0.0.860.
So you should show the same version number that is shown in the app.
Here a screen shot of the Help -> About window:
Here the information extracted from the EXE file:
File name and path: C:\Program Files\FreeCommander XE\FreeCommander.exe Product Name: FreeCommander XE Internal Name: Original Filename: File Description: FreeCommander (x64) - file manager for Windows Company: Marek Jasinski Legal Copyright: www.freecommander.com Legal Trademarks: Comments: File Version String: 2022.0.0.872 File Version: 2022.0.0.872 Product Version String: 2022.0.0.860 Product Version: 2022.0.0.860
2022.0.0.860

@OLLI_S That's curious.
It is due to us defaulting to use the Product Version, not the File Version.
However, such discrepancies, should always be corrected, once we add a "real" specific rule for the new version.
Usually this isn't an issue, as the majority of products have the same File and Product version. And mostly we would add the rule, before users notice.
The rule for your version was added a few hours after you upgraded and inspected.
I've filed an internal ticket, to see if we can improve this slightly. next time we have other changes in the rule matching engine , however, for a product like this, we will not display the "correct" version before the new version has been curated, because it needs to be rewritten.
