Windows 10 20H2 - New Registry Variable for Version-Number

  • Community Moderator

In Windows 10 20H2 (Autumn 2020) you see a new text in vinver:

    7ed368ae-ee6a-4c40-b762-0a2cd2f45cf9-image.png

It is the text 20H2 in the version string.
In the current version you see: Version 1909 (Build 18363.900)

This is stored in the registry value DisplayVersion under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Here the results from my PC (running 1909) :

OK, we should watch the release of 20H2 and react....

As far as I can tell, then the official "name" will be 2009, rather than 20H2.
However, they didn't update the official pages with either name, yet.
For now we will stick with the name in the ReleaseId, as that seems to be the official one.

@Tom I already had posted a topic for the version number in 20H2.
