Version number displayed in the app:
- 8.1 and 8.1.1 (see below)
App-Icon: (in ICO format)
Notes:
- The icon is only available in 32 x 32 pixel.
Here the information extracted from the EXE file:
File name and path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Vim\vim81\gvim.exe Product Name: Vim Internal Name: VIM Original Filename: VIM.EXE File Description: Vi Improved - A Text Editor Company: Vim Developers Legal Copyright: Copyright © 1996 Legal Trademarks: Vim Comments: File Version String: 8, 1, 282, 0 File Version: 8.1.282.0 Product Version String: 8, 1, 282, 0 Product Version: 8.1.282.0
Abut the Version number
On the website they write version 8.1
In the App they also write 8.1 in Help -> Version (see first screen shot below).
But when you start Vim you see a welcome screen with version 8.1.1 (see second screen shot below).Vim Help -> Verion page
Vim Start page
So Vim is Version 8.1 and including patch 1.
This would explain version 8.1.1 but in the EXE this can not be found. -
Vim added
The patch level is written in this way:
ftp://ftp.vim.org/pub/vim/patches/8.1/README
So this will be the format we will adhere to, despite this not being visible in the UI. -
The app icon is not shown.
And in VulnDetect the version ? is shown -
@olli_s Correct, we needed a Specific Rule first - and ahem, something about the icons needed a fix after launching VulnDetect.
All should be fixed and two versions of Vim are detected correctly. Unknown and future versions will be added as we see them.

Cool Vim is detected properly
